An entry-level conical burr grinder that grinds consistently enough for drip and pour-over. Baratza sells every replacement part, so a worn Encore gets fixed, not binned.

The Encore is the grinder we recommend with no asterisk for drip and pour-over. It is not an espresso grinder, so do not ask it to be one. The reason is one number: every click moves the burrs about 90 microns, which is fine when you are chasing a drawdown time and hopeless when you are chasing two seconds on a shot. If espresso is why you are here, the Encore ESP is the same grinder with the first twenty steps rescaled to about 20 microns, and it costs $50 more. What this one is: consistent, repairable for a decade, and boring in the best possible way. A scale and an Encore will fix more bad coffee than any new brewer ever will.
